I have winxp home on my computer and been running NIS2003 for the past
year. All of a sudden, Norton comes up and says I have a virus,
created in 2002. It claims it is the PWS Hooker.Trojan. I cannot
remove it. I tried going to their site and downloading the fix for
Bigbear@mm but it claims my computer doesn't have this big bear. I
also went to the file: C:\Windows\System 32\Apihookdll.dll where NIS
says the virus is and tried to delete it, but a box says it can't be
deleted because the drive might be write protected or full or the virus
is running. I have the administrator rights but they seem to be greyed
out. I also closed system restore, but I still can't delete it. Do I
have to shut down "Go Back" also. What can I do and why has NIS just
found it. Also the box on the Desktop screen from Norton can't be
closed also. Any help.

i'm confused... if norton says you have PSW.Hooker.Trojan, then why are
you downloading a fix for 'Bigbear@mm' (are you sure you don't mean
bugbear?)? shouldn't you be getting the fix for PSW.Hooker.Trojan instead?

it's probably the last one - the file is in use... generally this can
be circumvented by performing the desired action after booting into
safe mode... it's no guarantee, mind you, but it works fairly often..
