Some damn thing keeps typing the letter A in my MS Office documents.

system =Win XP
programs = Word XP, Excel XP, Access XP.

With a document open in any of these programs (and only these) every 30
- 120 seconds or so the insertion point flashes and the letter "a" or
"A" appears -- as if I'd typed it, but I didn't.

Norton Antivirus 2005, with latest update and definitions, does not
find the evil doer.

What's going on?
What's the fix?

Change the keyboard. The key is bad.

OK I will.

I thought of that -- but it only happens in Office, not in other programs.

Sorry. I didn't understand that the programs that you mentioned, are not
just those, which are installed on your machine, but those which
actually are *affected*.

Then you'll have to turn off the speech recognition, or at least
mute the microphone - Office XP misinterprets incoming noise as "oral
commands".

That worked.
Thanks.
