When ever i try to open IE browser it immedicately
crashes with an 'End Program' window. When i click 'send
error message' it returns a 'Microsoft Online Crash
Analysis' window which states the error was likely caused
by 'WinShow Popups' created by 8ad.com and provides a
link (http://www.pestpatrol.com/mswinshowsupport.asp)for
the solution. When i follow this link it shows a window
with a progress bar and ants crawling all over the window
as the progress bar advances. So I close the window
before completion but I still have the same problem and
am unable to use IE. Is this a virus?? If so how do i
fix it, where do i go?

Hi Frank -

The doxdesk site has been slow and down for the last few days at least. The
link you offered the OP is of the same persuasion as that which I've just
described; slow and (I didn't want to wait forever, and I have DSL). The
link that the OP offered works once it has been corrected. It also loads
very quickly.

That link is fine, it is merely ActiveX / scripting enabled flash type
animation. The site is PestPatrol and they produce an anti-spyware
product. If you're paranoid (which in certain ways you should rightly be)
Disable or at least set to prompt ActiveX. The same "rule"should apply for
Active Scripting as well. Most malicious programs and events which happen to
ones computer can be eliminated by following these simple measures.
