Hi
The last thing I did was update the computer with the latest Critical
Update from Windows Update. I re-started, played a quick game of Free
Cell and turned it off. When I turned it on today the desktop was back
to the original desktop when you first install XP, all customization
were gone. Start Menu was missing programs as was add/remove in the
Control Panel. However in Explorer all programs were there. I didn't
lose anything. I have it setup so I don't log in all the time. I'm
the only user of the computer. But the Log in Screen appeared with
Administrator as the user name, I had changed it and have a password
the password worked but with Administrator not the name I had chosen.
In Internet Explorer all customization were gone. I ran 3 virus scans
(Norton) no viruses. I have back up CD's so nothing was lost but I
couldn't get back any of my settings without using the back up CD's.
Would you have any idea what would cause this?
Steve

Well if you've logged in as Administrator and you usually
log in as 'Steve' (or whatever), then you are seeing a
different profile.
Log out Administrator and log back in with your usual
account to see all of your usual icons, etc.

I think that's kind of obvious. That wasn't the problem
