Hi Folks,

The return email address I use in this news group, is ONLY used in this
newsgroup. Today I have received 49 emails all of which contained a virus
and all were addressed to my above mentioned email address. My system of
course dealt with each one in a very satisfactory way.

I realise this message is off topic, but as the indication is that
whoever did it scanned this newsgroup for messages, I thought I should warn
you all of the possibility that you may also get such emails.

The email address I have been using for this newsgroup is now defunct.

All the best.....

It might help a little bit more if you posted the first Receieved: header
from some of these e-mails, on the off chance that which ever of the 10's
of thousands of people reading this newsgroup is infected might recognize
their ISP or even possible their own computername.

Yes, I'm receiving lots of suspicious e-mails since I subscribed to this
NG.

IMO, using a real email address in the ngs is ill-advised.

I have now received 68 of them...and whoever is doing it has re-scanned this
newsgroup today....only one email from me containing a specific return
address was posted and I have had just one virus message back...this is most
likely from the offenders machine.

The poor sop is wasting his/her time though....all I actually get is
an -in-system message to say that a virus infected message has been put in
the bin with all the other trash.

I am fortunate, I have access to unlimited email address's that I can invent
on the fly...so if it was the intent to do a distributed attack (which is
what it appears to be) so as to deprive me of the use of my email
address...well think on chump...do you really think I would use my private
email address in a newsgroup?? silly person aren't you??

All the best.....
