Hi
My friend has a virus in her computer (win2000) and she does not know
how to get rid of it even after using anti-viruse software and
ad-aware I guess. She is asking me this question:

"Do you know of another way of getting in the registry keys other than
going to : run and typing 'regedit'? With this stupid virus on the
computer, everytime I do that, I get a quick flash of a directory of
(I think) the Outlook Express, and then the screen flashes back to the
regular Windows screen (with all the icons). What do I do? AAAARGGHHH!
"

Do you have any suggestion to fix her problem?? thanks a lot.

Have her go to http://www.symantec.com and go to 'security alert' and
download the virus removal tool(s) for whichever virus she has. Follow
the instructions on the use of the tool(s) to the letter.

dead on.

It might be just about time to reformat, reinstall the OS, and install some
heavy duty anti-virus/worm software.

You have to understand, most of these people are not ready to be
unplugged. And many of them are so inert, so hopelessly dependent on the
system that they will fight to protect it.

Then they need to learn to type

format c:/s/q

often. :-)
