virus UGH!

I know you must have gotten hundreds of questions about this, but I receive
more than 200 (literally) intercepted virus notices DAILY. I wash my mail
before I download it EVERY time. I have 2 virus protections and a firewall
AND I wash my mail... I was bouncing the notices thinking that eventually
they would be "deleted" from the senders' lists. That didn't help. So now I
just delete them from the server before they are downloaded. How do I get
rid of all this junk?

Thanks!

So, how does that stop people from sending them? I have a "mock" email that
gets about the same amount of spam -- never even gets used! -- I set it up
to see if it would get spammed. It did.

So, how does changing the email help? (I really do want to know!)

I have no answer - only empathy. I was OK until I
provided my details to this blasted newsgroup - now I get
dozens per day. Solution - don't trust the contributors
to Microsoft newsgroups. They will steal your e-mail
address and use it for their own twisted version of fun.

That is absolute rubbish. There ARE indeed many twisted individuals who use
bots to harvest email addresses from newsgroups but it is a 99.9999999%
certainty that NONE of them actually post here. The bots are automatic and
they trawl the WHOLE of usenet, not just the MS newsgroups.

Unfortunately spam is now a fact of online life.
The only answer is to change your email address and do NOT use it for
posting to Newsgroups. You will still get a little spam, but nothing like
the volume you are getting now.

That's just it. You can't stop them from sending. The best you can do
is have two addresses. your real one, which you only give to people you
trust. and a throw-away that you can use for Newsgroups and the web.
