f-prot for windows (http://www.f-prot.com) is good and it doesn't leave
files all over the place...

Try Norton Antivirus 2003 as its the best AntiVirus software at the moment.

David.

as long as you do not have problems uninstalling it...or at renewal
time....or when trying to pay for it online....

no it isn't... there's no such thing as "the best anti-virus", there
are only very good ones and ones you should probably just ignore...

nav has good detection rates, if you don't mind the bloat...

I can only alert you NOT to use the following software from Grisoft, call
AVG
http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_dwnl7.php?ver=31
I could not even install it properly, subsequently I could not even
uninstall it. The tech support guys have not been able to resolve this
issue. Meanwhile, I have several program that have been "marked" as infected
and so I cannot even use them!! Stay away from this software.
On the other hand, I have used McAfee, but dont like the way it reminds you
everytime. I did not find a way to turn off the reminder...
