I friend has been given an old Latitude laptop (366MHz) which is fine for
her requirements - occasional web browsing and use of Word. However, we
tried a trial version of NAV2005 and it's just too much of a sloth for
Windows 2000 on a machine of this specification (only has 128MB RAM).

Any suggestions for a low-memory footprint and efficient virus scanner?

Thanks, Rob.

Nod32 or F-Prot

NAV usually starts with the "comprehensive file scanning" option -
meaning
all file are being scanned which will slow down any computer.

Go into "Options" and under Auto-Protect choose "Scan files with
Smartscan". The box next to it (Customize) will show the extensions
being scanned. Your system will run faster.
I would do a comprehensive manual scan once a week.
