Hi all,
I am running win98se and need to check my HD for virus/Trojan/what ever bad.
Please could you give me an advice on what would be the best freeware around
to get the job done. Thank you, Philippe.

I highly recommend Avast! 4 Home Edition. It automatically updates
virus definitions (and program, if you set that option), and has
comprehensive protection (AIM, e-mail, etc.). It's detection rates are
also very good, from the comparisons I've read. Many times it has
found trojans running in memory during the installation process, and
does a boot scan to clean things up. All they ask is that you register
it once a year. See www.avast.com.

F-prot for DOS, Avast, and AVG are possibilities. a-squared (a^2) is a
free anti-trojan.
