Definitely. Viruses are designed to do damage. If one has enough time
to do its stuff before someone tries to remove it, the result of the
damage will be that it is unremovable.

Your goal should be to stop *getting* infected by a virus, not just to
remove it after getting infected.

I'd repeat my earlier response: What exactly is the problem you are trying
to solve, and in what ways has it not been addressed by earlier responses to
your original question?

Or are you just wanting to hang around here nattering about viruses?

Probably doing a paper of some kind, or just a troll of sorts. I vote
some kind of troll from the absence of any kind of supporting

Ultimately, the answer is no, because sometimes the shortest route to a
clean system is a clean re-install, and the formatting that this starts from
will remove anything.

The tricks are, being able to recognise when that is the prudent course
(somewhat akin to knowing when to stop putting money into a car) and, how to
avoid re-infecting the system from the backups.
