I am connecting to ISP and communicating, but MS Explorer
5.5 upgraded to 6.1 will not communicate to the internet.
System is running windown 98, no system restore. Any
suggestion as to the unstalling/reinstalling of Explorer?
System had Sasser & Blaster removed from files.

If you are not using Windows XP, you'll need to repost your
question in the appropriate Windows 98 newsgroup:

Please visit the Windows 98 newsgroup:

You could try Start>run>cmd>SFC\SCANNOW and insert you
windows CD. Or you could try the program "XP Lite" it
allows you to uninstall components from XP and reinstall
them. I dont know if they do a version for your windows
but its worth a look.

Hi, Anonymous.

I don't know if it will help the OP, but the correct syntax to run the
System File Checker is:
sfc /scannow

Note the Forward slash and the space before it.

As Carey said, this is not the proper newsgroup for Win98. In WinXP, we
don't need a third-party program to install or remove Windows components.
We just go to Add or Remove Programs and click the button to add or remove
them. IE6 is an integral part of WinXP and cannot easily be removed, and
earlier IE versions can't be installed on WinXP.
