I keep trying to install the Service Pack 1 but it takes so long that lovsan
or one of those shuts the computer down before it finishes. I can't install
critical updates for the same reason. Is there one quick thing I can try to
download and install that could possibly block these so I can install the
others? I have just installed a second hard drive that I am trying to use as
my primary. I have Service Pack 1 on my other drive but have no idea if or
how I could get it to my new drive before the computer shuts down. I have
tried scanning with stinger - I have McAfee virus scan 8 and did manage to
get updates for it. Any help would be appreciated greatly.

.
If you connected the PC to the Internet without having
first
installed the KB824146 Hotfix, without having first
installed an
antivirus application with current virus definition
files, and before
enabling a firewall, you're very likely to get infected
from any of
the thousands of PCs on the Internet that are constantly
broadcasting
the Blaster and/or Welchia worms. It only takes a few
seconds of
exposure.

To stay on-line long enough to get the necessary
updates, patches,
and removal tools, click Start > Run, and
enter "shutdown -a" when the
next RPC countdown begins. This will abort the shut
down. Also, make
sure you've enabled a firewall before starting, to
preclude any more
intrusions while getting the updates/patches/tools.
