There is either a virus or hidden application the is
changing my default homepage and creates 3 shortcuts to
porn site on my desktop. I'm using XP Home edition and I
have scanned with Norton and find no viruses. I have
scanned with Lavasoft's ad-aware and removed all that it
found, and they are still showing up at ever start up.
Using msconfig I switched it to Diagnostic Startup
thinking when I restarted it would have fixed the problem
but it didn't. The only way I kept it from making the
shortcuts was to start in safe mode. So I'm assuming the
shortcuts are comin from the registry, Am I correct? And
if so how do I find it and remove it?

Some of these can be a pain to get rid of.

Try another virus scanner. It might find something
Norton's didn't.
www.trendmicro.com has a free online scanner
www.ravantivirus.com is another one

Ad-aware can be good, make sure it's updated. Also try
Spybot S&D. http://www.safer-networking.org/.

Do a search for HijackThis 1.97 and download. Be careful
this will list anything that is running, even if it is
legit.

Check your add/remove programs for anything that you know
doesn't need to be there.

Check your network connections for any newly created dial-
up connections.

Thaks for the advice George. I went to the site with
HijackThis but didn't use it I used the shredder program
and it cleaned everything off.
