If my system takes a long time to boot up successfully is it hard drive
failure?
From a cold boot I repeatedly get bad system config Blue screen of death,
Files missing or currupt in the system directories or in the settings
directories.
Its not untill the system is operating for a few minutes that it becomes
stable enough to boot all the way.

What do you think??

You most likely do have damaged files that are preventing you from booting
up normally. Next time this happens, write down verbatim each message that
you get and search for it on Google, you will find alot of information.

Also if you have a current ant-virus boot disk, boot to it and do a scan. If
you don't have one, Vexira offers an excellent free one. You'll need a CD
burning program to create the boot CD and two floppies. I highly suggest
creating these on another computer.

It is necessary to scan from a boot disk so that your AV can scal all files
while they are not in use. You may also want to consider reinstalling XP if
it comes down to it.

Thank you for your reply, Marx404!
I believe I have solved the problem! The computer has been running for 3
hours with no notifications of coruptions.
Would bios settings make a difference in file stability? Or the system's
ability to perceive the stability of the files?
