Virus in svchost.exe

Norton Anti-Virus flagged my svchost.exe file as
containing a virus that it cannot fix.

How can I find the latest version of that file so I can
restore it? I know I can expand it from my install disks,
but how do I know whether that file (svchost.exe) had been
updated in a service pack or critical error patch since my
install CDs were manufactured? I'd like to make sure I
get the correct version for my Windows XP configuration.
Please advise.

.
You've been infected with the Welchia Worm. Go to
Symantech's website and download the Welchia Worm Fix.
Then install all critical updates/patches for your OS.
Then run the Welchia Worm Fix. Then delete the files in
the quarantine folder in Norton.
...

Thanks.

I should have gone to the Symantec site as you recommend.
But instead I just deleted the file svchost.exe. Windows
XP is booting fine and all without the file, but I know it
is a needed file. My question is, how do I find out which
version of the file I need in order to restore it? If I
use an expanded copy off my CDs, how do I know that it
hasn't been updated since then? I would like a fool-
proof way to get the version of the file that I just
deleted.

Prior to deleting the file, I had updated Windows XP to
all the latest Microsoft patches and fixes.

Thanks,
