I am a non-techie senior, so I am asking for your help.
Just today I discovered a problem when I am trying to type
an e-mail and use the parentheses. Depending on what
letter I am trying to enclose in the parentheses I get,
when I close the parentehsis a flower, or a monkey face,
or a martini glass, etc. Some of the letters do not
produce little pictures but others do all the
time.

Since I almost never use parentheses and don't write e-
mails often, I am not sure how long I have had this
problem. It seems to me that a while back I read that such
a problem, or virus, exists. How did it get into my
computer, I have Symantec security (Norton Antivirus)? This
problem occurs only when I use my e-mail, not when I am in
Microsoft Word.

Any help you can give me on how to get rid of all these
little pictures, or whom to contact for help, will be most
appreciated.

Thank you.

You should try your question in a newsgroup related to your email software.
You don't mention it, but if it is Outlook then try

If it is Outlook Express then try clicking on Internet Technologies,
Internet Explorer, and then Outlook Express
