Virus Emails

Hi
Probably not the right place to post this, but it's about something that happened
WHEN i joined this forum.
Since the moment I joined this newsgroup, I've been inundated by those annoying
emails which pretend to be notification from Microsoft about Updates, wanting you to
install and run the attachment file. I think we all know the one I'm talking about.
Even though I would NEVER click on any attachment supposedly coming from MSN ( cos i
KNOW they NEVER send attached files ), I thank my IP for cleaning off the virus
attachment of each and every email message. And I learned within about an hour of
joining ( from reading other posts ) that I should NEVER have used my REAL email
address on my first post as spammers and the like, cultivate emails addresses from
posts :( .....I immediately figured out where to change, and DID change my email to
a fake, and learned also in lightning flash time, how to set up blocked sender rules
in Outlook Express, so most of them are going straight to my deleted box.

Apart from just being an annoyance now, I wondered if there's anything else I can do
to stop these emails from coming in?

I have been using MailWasher Pro. It allows you to preview the e-mail direct
from your ISP, without downloading to your computer. There are all sorts of
blocks and blacklists that are called into play. The e-mail can be deleted
from the ISP server from your computer.

It still takes some of your time, but it makes your e-mail as safe as the
amount of time you take to configure the program.

Will look into that MailWasher program you mentioned. I can already go straight to
my ISP's homepage and check my email on their server. I've just got VERY used to
opening Outlook Express and having it running the whole time I'm online, but maybe I
should change my ways and check from mail my ISP page, at least for now, until these
messages stop, as they do ~ eventually.

Thanks for your response :)

MailWasher Pro integrates with Outlook Express and can be used for Hotmail
and/or the e-mail account you have set up from your service provider (if not
Hotmail).
