Virus damage

Recently I successfully removed a virus from my computer.
Now Windows 2000 doesn't operate correctly, particularly
Windows Explorer and Task Manager. Is there any fix besides
clearing the whole harddrive and reinstalling Windows 2000?

What AV software?
What errors do you get?

You could re-install or do a repair?

Exactly.

Once the infector is known then you can go to McAfee, Trend or Symantec and see
the "fix" for what the virus does or use a tool if provided.
