Hi All,
A friend got a virus and cleaned it using his virus software. Since then he
has the problem that one of his ethernet connections stopped working and
when he tries to connect to a specific server on the internet (sims online
gaming server) it says the server cannot be found.
Seeing as these are two totally different types of connections I'm wondering
if this seems like the virus did permanent damage or if maybe the virus
software closed some ports. If there is a possibility the software closed
ports, how does one reopen them? Maybe it's something completely different?
Somebody in another group mention an XP repair utility... where can I find
that if it exists?
He is planning to reformat soon and I wanted to try to see if we couldn't
fix this before he gos that route. If anybody has any ideas, please reply or
email me at (e-mail address removed).
Thanks in advance,
Stephanie
