I am writing to find how secure the VPN is. The place I
work at is spread out and my office is on the other side
of the property from our network. When ever I need a file
I either have to have someone email it to me or i have to
go to a networked computer with a burner and burn a cd for
a small file that our email server will not accept. I am
trying to convence our network admin that it is safe I am
just hoping for a little feedback on the issue. Thanks so
much for your help.

Hi Doug,
There are 2 types of VPN, L2TP and PPTP. Both are relativly secure as they
involve single end points where all traffic flows. However L2TP can be used
with IP Security (IPSec) that can encrypt all traffic across the VPN
connection and make it even more secure than an L2TP connection that uses
other forms of encryption. L2TP with NTLMv2 is quite secure but it your
network admin really wants to be rock solid a L2TP connection with IPSec is
about as secure as it comes.
