After I first installed Vista, I would get Program Compatibility Assistant
to pop up twice and tell me that "This driver is blocked due to
compatibility issues." The "Check for solutions online" led nowhere, so my
only other option was "Cancel" or see if I could find where this driver was
installed in Device Manager and uninstall it. I did manage to find a device
with the ! in the yellow triangle and uninstall it. Great - now I only get
this message once instead of twice. Nothing else is listed in Device Manager
as having a faulty driver. All devices are "working properly." I saw a post
on a MSDN forum about this problem -
http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=546816&SiteID=1
But it refers to a KB article that refers to Windows XP. The stated
resolution is to modify boot.ini. I have tried to find boot.ini using the
same path - go to Startup and Recovery dialog box in System Properties via
Advanced tab, then click on Edit. Only trouble is, when I get to that dialog
box, it does not have an Edit option. It only describes what my OS is and
what happens upon system failure (generate log). So I have no clue how to
resolve this problem. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.
