hey,
i have windows 2000 pro, and im having problems with my
virtual paging file, after i log in i get a message that
says something about having no paging file or having it
set too low. i do have Service Pack 4, i have a pentium
4 1.7ghz processor, 512 megabytes of ram, 20gig hard
drive. My initial paging file is set at 700, and the
maximum is set at 1800. those are the default numbers
that were put in when i installed 2000 pro. those numbers
did not change when i installed service pack 4. i have
had service pack 4 for about 2 weeks now, and today was
the first time i got this message, thx for you help.

hey,
now im confused, cuz i followed the instructions on that
website, did both the registry, and the advanced option in
system. and im confused as to why i still get this
message. i only have a c: drive and it says that it is
set to use 1.5*512mbs(which is the amount of ram i have)
which comes out to 768, but under the total paging file
size for all drives, it says i am only using 20 mbs even
though my page file is set up at 768. help im confused,
thx,

harley

Harley, the built in local SYSTEM account, which is a member of the
Everyone group, needs to have Full NTFS permissions to the root of any
and all volumes that you have a pagefile configured on.
