Hello All,

I have WinXP Pro SP1 installed w/ 1GB of ram, I want to change my virtual
memory to 3GB I go to System Properties-Advance-Performance Options-Virtual
Memeory Change set Initial Size and Maximum Size to 3000 select set and
restart system.
Then when I open Task Manager it says I only have 2521024 as my limit it
should say 4000 and when I go back to Virtual Memory window it still says
3000-3000 but in the Total paging file size for all drives says min. 2MB,
Recommended: 1534, Currently Allocated : 1535, should'nt it say 3000??

Does anyone know way this is not taking affect??

Thanks alot in advance!!

Dennis

Just a quick question... why on earth would you want 3 GB
of virtual ram? You already have 1 GB of physical ram,
which should pull you through pretty much anything other
than modeling the stuff that they do at Pixar.

Thanks, I just went through it and that is exactly what I did I even
followed his instruction to:

In the Virtual Memory settings, set to "No page file," then exit System
Properties, shut down the machine, and reboot. Delete PAGEFILE.SYS (on each
drive, if more than just C:), set the page file up again and reboot to bring
it into use.

I reset it to 3000 and rebooted and the PAGEFILE.SYS says 1,572,080 not
3000!!!

Yes you are correct I do alot of work in 3D Studio Max and I need it to help
speed up my renderings.

This just does not make sence to me

Help!!
