Start/Control Panel/System/Advanced tab/Performance/Settings button
Advanced tab/Virtual Memory Change button
Set to 1 1/2 times your RAM
Click Apply and OK

Not necessarily. If the machine only has 128 mb of RAM that will
result in a page file that is much too small for any sort of moderate
to heavy usage.

And if the machine has 1 gb of RAM or more then that would result in
an excessively large page file, much more than is ever likely to be
needed except in very special circumstances.

See the article I referenced in my response to the original post.

Good luck

See MVP Alex Nichol's article on Virtual Memory in Windows XP at
http://aumha.org/win5/a/xpvm.htm especially the section dealing with
problems.

Good luck
