Hi James;
It sounds like your virtual memory may have been
changed from the default setting? The default setting
is to let Windows determine the size of it.
OR, you may have a memory problem; have you added
memory lately?
Increasing the size of virtual memory is a trivial
annoyance and won't cause you any problems. It just
means RAM is full and it's starting to use your hard
drive for what won't fit in RAM, unless there is some
physical reason preventing RAM from being used for the
right purposes.
Rather than write a missive, do you know how to:
-- Set Virtual RAM to let windows manage it?
-- Check your RAM to be sure it's all being recognized
by the system?
-- Describe any recent changes you made to the system?
-- Check your system for viruses, worms, trojans,
etc.?
The more info you can provide, the better.
This is meant to be helpful and not in any way
offensive:
1. Do NOT use your real email address on any
newsgroups. You are likely to begin receiving a lot of
spam because of this posting. Never give any personal
information out on any public forum like this,
especially, or to any web site. (e-mail address removed) is
a good one to use that was created just for this kind
of purpose. There are many others available, but do
NOT make one up on your own!
2. Do NOT use your real name. Choose a nickname to go
by. Having your email address , ISP AND your real name
gives me about a 70% chance of identifying where you
live, your phone number, maybe even your social
security number. The goal would be to steal your
identity for those who know how, and many do.
Do you need info on the best places to get info on safe
surfing, how to handle email, etc.? The best Search
Engine for research would be
www.google.com.
