Virtual Memory Problem

I keep getting a pop up saying that "virtual memory is
VERY low and they are adjusting accordingly.

WHAT and WHERE do I find virtual memory and what can I do
to fix this. I have a modem but the programs are slow.
I have defraged and done cache sweep but am still having
problems.

Any help would be appreciated. And, yes, I have Norton
Anti Virus set up to run each and every Wednesday morning
and have never been told I have a virus. Help?
 
V.M. is like ram,but uses the hd instead,R.click,my com-
puter,properties,advanced,virtual memory,change button.
The max should be set at 3X sdram memory,min is 1 1/2 X
if its not close,type in both,click the set button 2X,
then close out,if you reset it,xp should prompt you to
restart computer.Hence,if its low,buy more sdram,a 2nd
hd is the optimal set-up because it uses that instead of
the xp os drive.

You try and fix your virtual memory accordingly: click
start> right click my computer> click on properties> a
system properties window should pop up, then click the
advanced tab,click the settings button under
performace>performance options window should pop up, now
click advanced tab> go down to the virtual memory section
and click change> a virtual memory window should pop up,
now go down to system managed and accept that, rather
then no paging file, this allows you CV: drive to act
like virtual memory once you run out of your normal
virtual memory. This could mean you do have a nasty
virus , even if you do destructive system restore the
virus could be in your booting records, My system is
doing the same.
