Virtual Memory Low???

I continue to get a messages that states "virtual memory
low?" I am running on Windows XP with
256mb of memory, shouldn't that be enough? Yet, my pc
still lags every once in a while when running
DreamWeaver and a few other programs. What can I do to
get this message from popping up and my pc from lagging?

Get more RAM or increase the virtual memory settings.

Of course it does; the more RAM, the less the need to load stuff into
virtual memory.

WinXP automatically manages virtual memory,the way in
which data swaps to and from the hard drive when there
isn't room for it in memory.In the default mode,Windows
expands and contracts the size of the swap file
(called "paging file"in XP) as needed,but this process
can slow down your machine.Forcing XP to use a static
swap size gives there system faster performance.To do
this,make your swap file at least twice as large as the
memory installed in your system.....Good luck.
