After 10 min. on line I get a messege that my virtual
memory is low, and windows will add more, but some
programs won't run right until this happens. I've had
this dell system for 3 months with XP Prof. installed.
Why is this happing? Thanks for any help you can give me.

.
Your Virtual Memory should be set at 384mb. If it is
not, do the following:
Start/ControlPanel/Performance&Maintenance/System/Advanced
tab/Performance settings button/advanced tab/virtual
memory. You can change it right there. Click Apply and
then OK. Might want to reboot.

true since he never stated how much ram he has, BUT 384mb
is definitely a safe place to start and will do no harm.
if you continue to recieve the warning, increase the size.
open taskmanager and look on the performance tab to see
that you have adequate memory allocated.

There's no possible way that you, or anyone else, can
know what his virtual memory should be set at. He hasn't
said anything about how much RAM he has or what apps he
runs, and knowledge of both is required to even begin
advising someone as to how much page file he needs. This
spurious advice should be ignored completely.

or better yet, if you are unsure or uncomfortable
adjusting this setting, just leave as "system manage
size".

Open Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs and look for an entry for
the Intel Application Accelerator. If it is listed then select it and
click on Add/Remove to uninstall it. Reboot the computer and your
problem should be resolved.

And if the Intel Application Accelerator was installed then you should
go to www.intel.com and download the latest version of the Intel
Application Accelerator and install it.

If this does not resolve your problem then see MVP Alex Nichol's
article on virtual memory in Windows XP at
http://aumha.org/win5/a/xpvm.htm

Good luck
