I have Windows XP and keep getting a virtual memory full
message. It slows down response to a crawl.

Any thoughts on how to improve and eliminate the message
problem.

.
Your limit for V/M may be set to low
go to control panel and open your system icon, click on
the advanced tab then the settings button under
performance. Then click on the advanced tab again(this is
a different tab). Under Virtual Memory you should see
what this is set to, 1.5 times the amount of Ram
installed is a good upper limit. If the lower limit is too
low you will get windows popup messages stating
that "windows is increasing your V/M" it's very irratating
so set this limit at least 1MB over the amount of ram
installed.
You may need to adjust the upper limit depending on
your usage,I believe that 3 times your Ram is the Max.
you should go.
Thre lower limit is 1MB over your Ram for hibernating
your system the ram dumps it's info to VM.
