We just tried an upgrade from WinXP Home to WinXP Pro on a new Sony Machine. The upgrade installed then hung with an error stating not enough Virtual Memory to continue

Attempts to go into save mode also hang with the same error message

The system is down! Can any one help

Morton, how much Ram does your system have? At what point did it hang?

Sorry, regarding the hang, it will get thru BIOS, the curser will appear then the virtual memory error comes up. Same when selecting Safe Mode.

As per Microsoft web site, you cannot upgrade XP Home Servicepack 1 to XP Pro without a service pack. And Sony will not provide an option to uninstall SP1. Let me know if it is a Sony Notebook, I will provide you the steps to install XP Pro, Sony drivers and applications
