virtual drive remains

Sam

I just upgraded from Win98 to Win2000.

I have a Sony Camera F707 and when I plugged it into the
USB port the drive letter (F:, for example) appeared to
view the pictures. When I removed the camera from the
port, the drive letter remained. However, when I
connected again, it assigned a new drive letter (G:).
When I disconnected this time G: disappeared, but F is
still there. Also, when I copy the pictures over to the
HD from the G: drive, it tells me that I need to connect
to drive F:. Anyone have this problem, know how to fix
this problem or know a reference to fix this problem.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Sam

If the usb was plugged in when you did the upgrade the
system probably saw it only as another drive and not a
virtual drive. Try going into Control panel,
Administrative Tools, and computer Management. In there
go to disk management. Highlight the F drive that you
want to get rid of and then right click. An options
should be given for delete drive or partition. Go ahead
and delete it. This will normally though make your G
start using F but now there will only be the one virtual
drive. Hope this helps.
