I had difficulty removing Symantec Norton Antivius from my WIN-XP (SP2) box
(becuase I did not know the uninstall password), so I went into REGEDIT and
deleted everything that contained "Symantec". I may have been over zealous.
I ama now getting this pop-up message: 16 bit Windows Subsystem:
SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\VirtualDeviceDrivers. VDD. Virtual Device
Driver format in the registry is invalid. Choose 'Close' to terminate the
application. Close/Ignore.

How do I overcome this dilemma? Any ideas? Any registry repair tools
recommended? Free?

Thanks in advance,

Do a System Restore to a point before you made the registry edits. Always
set a System Restore point before editing the registry. Then use Add/Remove
programs to remove Norton. If you run into a problem, navigate to the
Symantec site and search the knowledgebase for the following article:

Removing Norton AntiVirus 2004 from Windows XP/2000 after Add/Remove
Programs does not work

The first five or six words should suffice. Use the correct year for your
program. To reach the support page go to:

http://www.symantec.com/techsupp/consumer.html

and put in the Product and Version info, then click Knowledgebase, then
enter your search string.
