The Virtual CDROM driver that M$ had on it's download site won't work with Vista. Besides having to buy and use Alchol (the program - not the drink), ISOBuster, etc - does anyone know of any free tools to treat and ISO as a drive?

daemon tools (http://www.daemon-tools.cc) supposedly has a version that
will work with vista, including x64... but i haven't tried it yet.

To be honest Synapse, it never worked for me either. Even in XP i always
found it a pain. in the end, with XP, i had to resort to deamon tools.
Whether deamon works with Vista though, i couldn't say, not having tried it.
I always burn the ISO's to DVD.

I've just tried it again, and it does work fine. I had never used it before
I started using Vista, and find it will do until Nero ImageDrive gets sorted
out.

I have Nero but never used the ImageDrive thing - does it add a drive letter
to your avail drives too or what makes it good?

Tom Porterfield spewed out this bit, and i'll scatter a few bits myself:
I use Alcohol 52% in Vista at home, it works fine. Support for Vista
RTM was added with the release on 2006-11-20.

I use that same version just for the virtual drive. Never had one problem at
all with it, works perfect.

If I understand your question, yes. It is a virtual drive, and is
convenient as I use Nero anyway. There is an option for it to handle more
image types, and you can have up to image drives.
