with setting the alarm.

Before I left the office yesterday, I entered a New Task for this morning
with the alarm set for 10 a.m., and it did not work.

These are the settings I used: Subject: Confirm Lunch Orders; Due Date: Wed
July 27, 2005; Status Not Started, Start Date: None; Priority: High. Percent
Complete is already at 0%. The reminder box is checked, and I have now
re-set the alarm for 10:30 a.m. Then I clicked on "Save and Close". Outlook
Today is open but minimized on my desktop, and I working on other projects
both on the internet and off, as well as totally away from the computer!

I'm getting frustrated. I thought this would work like my old palm pilot,
tsk.

Thanks again, MVP's.

The alarm is not working the way I think it should be; how can I find out
what am I doing wrong?

It's 'Averello' :-)

I forgot to ask one thing... is this task in the Tasks folder? If not, the
reminder won't fire without a third-party tool to help

Sorry about that, silly typos. I **meant** to hit the 'v' key, really I did!

By **the Tasks folder**, and I apologize in advance for my Outlook
ignorance, do you mean did I set this by clicking on the "Outlook Shortcuts"
clipboard icon labelled "Tasks" or by clicking on the heading "tasks" on the
"Personal Folders -- Outlook Today" screen, versus setting it as a "New
Appointment"?

I am getting confused, but I **think** that it was using one of the 'tasks'
options, rather than as a New Appointment; however, I will right now test out
all three variations, carefully, this time, and make a note of which option
goes with a particular time setting.

Thanks again.

Don't worry, I'm not upset. You got closer to spelling my last name right
than a lot of people do. I look forward to your results.

Hmm. I have learned something today about Outlook and Microsoft. There are
too many choices! (I feel like the overwhelmed new Americans in our
supermarket cereal aisles, ;0.)

When I open up Outlook, at the screen that is headed "Personal Folders -
Outlook Today", the options are for a New Appointment, Ctrl+Shft+A and for a
Task, Ctrl+Shift+K. When I move into the Calendar Folder, headed with
"Calendar" and displaying today's calendar as a 1-page list, the sequences
change: for New Appointment = Ctrl+N, and for Task = Ctrl+Shift+K. Then
there are other options in the "New" drop-down menu, of Task or Task Request.

What's the deal with all these different ways of doing things, and what is
the correct sequence to utilize that alarm? Someone help me, please, Vince?
