I tried a Viewsonic VP201b LCD monitor (20") and the default brightness is
set to max. for some reason so I turned it down a bit and then I could hear
a very quiet high pitched buzzing sound like a florescent lamp noise (Isn't
the backlight a florescent tube?).
I have my PC modified to run super quiet (and the room get fairly quit) so
maybe its a normal sound that most people do not really notice because their
PC is louder and drowns out the noise. After putting a lot of effort to make
my PC quiet, the monitor noise although not loud it can still be heard and
gets annoying.
I went to a store and tried to listen for the noise on the same model LCD
but the room was too loud to tell if the LCD made noise.
Does anyone have any experience with the 20' VP201b or VP201s (or any other
late model LCD) having a slight buzzing noise when the brightness ids turned
down (brightness is set at max. by default)?
Thanks,
Lou
