Hi, I am a relative newbie to home networking and would appreciate some
help please.

I have a machine upstairs running Windows 2000 Professional for the
children to use - this has Norton Internet Security installed.

Downstairs I have my laptop which I have now connected up so that both
machines can see the internet and can see each other and the printer
(major achievement for me, by good luck rather than anything else!)

I don't want to be too restrictive on what the kids view, but would
like to be able to view their (Windows 2000) screen activity downstairs
fom my WinXP machine just so that I can monitor them occasionally.

Can I do this? Is there software that I need that you can recommend?

Thanks,

Joseph

VNC (Virtual Network Computing)
Originally produced by IBM. It is a "free" product. I believe it can be
run in an "observer" mode where you don't actually take control of their
mahcine but only "view" it.

The VNC Server goes on their machine,...the VNC Viewer goes on your machine.
a web browser can act as a viewer but it is not as efficient.
