Viewing window of games

Recently I have had all my games start off in a less than
full screen mode, yet it takes the entire screen. The
viewing screen is smaller so things that were once in
plain sight now are too small to see. I can't just slick
on the "full screen" button, and not all the games are
able to increase size. Even the Start-up screen, when
you first turn on the computer is smaller than what used
to be. There has to be something in the main display
menu that I am missing. Any help would be appreciated.

Are you using a laptop by any chance? It sounds like are running your games
at full screen, but your laptop's graphics chip can't handle extrapolating
the screen image to fit on your screen. Some graphics drivers have an option
that lets you turn on/off this expansion.
