Viewing Videos in Presenter View

I'm using PowerPoint 2007 and I have created a presentation that includes
..AVI videos. These videos are screencasts that I narrate live during the
presentation so I have to see the video while it is running.

I am considering using the Presenter View because it would really help me
deliver my presentation, but the videos do not play in the presenter view
while they are playing in the presentation. If I pause the video then the
slide in the presenter view is updated to match the video.

As far as I can tell this is simply a limitation of the presenter view so my
question is, "Is this a limitation of the presenter view or can I configure
the presenter view to show the video as it is playing?".

I appreciate any assistance you can provide!

The video plays properly in the presentation with or without using presenter
view. But in presenter view the video only plays on the second monitor. The
presenter's view displays a screen cap of the beginning of the video.

The in-presentation video demos are not nearly as useful if I have to turn
around and look at the screen to narrate the video. Can the video be playing
 
Ah, now I understand. Sorry but no, you can't play the video on both
screens natively with PowerPoint. PowerPoint does't really play the video.
Instead it captures the first frame from of the video as a place holder on
the slide. When its ready to play the video, PowerPoint calls on the
Windows MCI player and creates an instance of the player as an overlay on
the slide. That only happens on one screen. (It can be done with
programming code but its no small project.)

In case anyone out there is looking for a solution to this problem, we found
UltraMon from Realtime Soft to be an acceptable solution.

UltraMon is multi-monitor software for Windows. One of it's many features
is the ability to mirror a monitor on another monitor OR in a Window on
another monitor.

We run this feature on the Presenter View monitor and switch to it while the
video is playing. The mirrored image isn't perfect but it solves this
problem quite well.
 
For anyone looking into this problem, we solved it here using Ultramon from
Realtime Soft. Ultramon is multi-monitor software which includes the
capability to "mirror" one display on another display or, MIRROR ONE DISPLAY
IN A WINDOW ON ANOTHER DISPLAY, EVEN AT DIFFERENT RESOLUTIONS.

Before playing the video, the presenter brings the Ultramon mirroring window
up on top of the Presenter View. Though the image is a little crude the
presenter can easily follow along with the video watching the Ultramon
window, then switch back to the Presenter View when the video is over.

It works perfectly for us!
