Is it possible in Business Contact Manager to view somebody elses calendar on
my screen?
We already have one shared database that we connect to. If we place
appointments on the main computer, will they show up in everyone elses
calendar too?

If not, is there anyway we can do this?

Many thanks.

there is no calendar in BCM... if you use office 2007 you can share it in a
common way

Hi Dimitri,
Can you tell me what you mean by this?

Do you mean I can email the calendar, publish it to office online etc?

I was hoping to have just one central calendar for the whole organisation
(like an appointment book) that anybody can update from any computer.

Is this possible?

Many thanks.

Yes, that's what MS Exchange server brings to the party. It can handle
everyone's calendar and you can control who sees what, who can change what,
etc.

Lon

Hi Lon,

Many thanks for your answer.

Can you tell me, is MS Exchange server easy to administer? The reason I ask
is that at the moment I have our "server" running windows XP Professional
with file and printer sharing etc. turned on.

Although we do not use the "server" to run any programs (just store the
database for outlook and accounting), I must admit that I am quite afraid of
what running MS exchange entails in order to "share the outlook calendar".

Is it quite easy to use once it is installed?

Many thanks.

Chris Parker.

I would recommend getting Exchange hosted by someone else. It's usually
$10-15 per month per user and they have support available. Once you get the
mail flowing and your users setup, it shouldn't take much maintenance.

If you want it hosted inside your office, get a MS Small Business Server and
a MS Partner to help you with it. It's more work on your part (or the
Partner's part) but it might be more cost effective after 1-2 years,
depending on the number of users you have.

HTH,
Lon

Another way to go is to use some sites in the internet that allow keep
published calendars from outlook. Other people can contact this site sharing
you data -- in this case you dont need any Exchange servers which will not
reason to implement just for the calendar solution.
