I have two computers both running IE6 and as far as I know patched up
equally. When I open Security settings on one I see a different view to
what I see on the other machine.

I can see Internet and a slider to set according to ones preferences, on the
other machine this slider does not show.

TIA

U can solve this Problem By just clicking on the " Default level "
button in Security settings , and here u go u will find a slider to
adjust ur Preferences .
Hope this solves ur Problem ...

I'm trying to set mine = in post 'Export Internet Options
from Registry'. There r 3 suggestions there u may want to
try & contribute to that thread.

Any advise given is my attempt to show appreciation for all
the excellent help I've received here but I'm no MVP so it
may only apply NUGS (Normally, Usually, Generally, Sometimes :)

Sorry but I can't see a default option there?

Do you mean Internet zone (less secure but more functional)

Hi B.W,
As Navshad said try to clcik on Default Levelt and you will get your Slider
back to set it to Low, Medium or High, from your Description the other
machine is run on Advanced option to ask the User what to do with website
(i.e. Block or Allow).
Try this :
to changes you settings on the IE security Tab as follow:
a- Click Start >> Double click Control Panel.
b- In the Control panel Double click Networking and Internet Connections.
c- On the Networking and Internet Connections Double click Internet
Options.
d- On the IE Properties window click on Security Tab, while IE Glob is
highlighted click on [ Default Level...] Button.
Click on the Privacy Tab and then click on [ Advanced..] Button, uncheck
this box:
[ ]Override automatic cookie handling. uncheck this and click [OK] to
confirm your changes you will find the Slider set to low try to adjust it to
your desired setting which allow you to access websites.
HTH.
Please let us know.

Thanks for that Nass.

It seems when I access Tools Options Security from OE the slider does not
show. But when I access it all again from the Control Panel or directly
from IE, it does.

Your suggestion....'Override automatic cookie handling. uncheck this,' was
already unchecked.

So I can see my slider through IE rather than OE.

Thanks.

You started out talking about IE, not OE. Now suddenly you're talking about
OE? How about being a little clearer about what your question really is.

Sorry Frank, In thinking back, maybe I was trying to look for the security
slider on the other machine in OE rather than IE, sorry for the confusion.
