When I make a presentation and try to view it I get
everything but the graphics. Then I get a box telling me
to down load vector graphics rendering vml. As far as I
know I already had this as I was able to veiw these before
I tried to install Explorer 6. I had to go back to 5.5
because my mail clients would hang.

It sounds as though this might be something that happens when you view a
presentation that's been saved/published as html/web page, not a regular
PPT/PPS file. True?

If so, I'd have a look at your publish to web options:

Tools, Options, General tab, click Web Options, Picture tab. Remove the check
next to the "VML" option and try publishing the presentation to HTML again.
