I want to compare my current registry setting to those
from last week. I restored the registry file from backup
but just want to look at it. I don't want to import it
because it will change the registry. I just want to see
what changes were made.

Thanks

No, he restored a .reg file, which I'm assuming he means he retrieved a .reg
file from a backup device.

You can right click the .reg file and choose edit to view it in Notepad.

Doesn't make sense. If you restored the registry from backup, then
"restored registry"="current registry"
