I have created a presentation with slides and videos
(mpgs), and hyperlinks to other presentations in
Powerpoint 2000. This presentation is to be distributed
to users unfamiliar with its content. I want the videos
to start up automatically which they do in Powerpoint, but
when I try to view the presentation in Powerpoint Viewer
2003, the movies need a mouse click to start them.
(Because the first frame of a video is indistinguisable
from a slide, a user won't mouse click on it to start it.
Consequently, he just skips over the video to the next
slide.) In Powerpoint 97, the videos start up fine, but
the hyperlinks don't work. Are these behaviors
fixable?

[CRITICAL UPDATE - Anyone using Office 2003 should install the critical
update as soon as possible. From PowerPoint, choose "Help -> Check for
Updates".]

Hello,

This is a limitation of the PowerPoint Viewer 2003 when using it to view
presentation authored in PowerPoint 2000 and earlier. The workaround is to
open and resave the presentation in PowerPoint 2002 or PowerPoint 2003.

There is a bug in the new Viewer and it won't automatically play audio and
video files. Microsoft has not released a fix for this bug. The best work
around is to use the PowerPoint 97 Viewer. However, the PowerPoint 97
Viewer does not support hyperlinks on grouped objects. If your hyperlinks
are on grouped objects, simply ungroup them and they will work.
