Does the latest pptviewer use hardware acceleration/£D
and if so how do you set it to do so? I can't find a key
in the viewer registry similar to slideshowuse3d in the
office registry

The Viewer does not use hardware acceleration.

Whyever not? If you do anything serious with say 1280 x
720 photos, you need to use acceleration or the
transitions stagger. So your original show uses hard.
acceleration. Then you show it with the viewer on your
friend's computer and the timings are all shot and the
transitions stagger.

I don't work for Microsoft, so I can't tell you why or why not. However
there are a myriad of other reasons why a presentation does not run the same
on another machine. See
