In regard to a project I am involved in,
I was given a DVD to view. I cannot view
it on my Win2k box which has Windows
Media Player. With Explorer, I see that
it the disk has VOB files on it. What
to I need to view it?

If there is a better place to ask,
please let me know.

Thanks for your help.
Mike.

==================================
You need a DVD drive and decoding
software...PowerDVD for example.

I have a HL-DT-ST-DVDRAM GSA-4081B drive.
Is decoding software available for this?

Thanks,
Mike.
==================================
If the drive was OEM, I would have expected
the decoding software to be pre-installed but
if you cannot view a DVD you'll have to install
additional software. If you search Google for...
Software DVD Decoders
you should find many options. Personally, I
have used 'CyberLink PowerDVD' and
'InterVideo WinDVD Creator'. I would suspect
that any DVD decoder software you install
would work with your DVD drive.

Also it's possible to RIP a DVD and convert
the files to a different format but that seems
excessive if all you wish to do is view the DVD.

I don't guarantee the following to work but it's
just an example of what's involved in converting
a DVD.

FWIW...the following site shows that PowerDVD v5
was supposed to be included in the box with your
LG GSA-4081B Multi DVD Recorder...
