How do I get things to appear on websites? I can see the words but no
pictures. I have a blank box with a tiny red X on the upper lefthand corner.
This is a brand new computer so I don't know if I am missing a setting or
something. I have windows XP. I would appreciate any help in this. thanks
so much.

Possibilities -

In IE, go to the Tools menu and select Internet Options.
Click on the Advanced tab.
Scroll down to the Multimedia section and make sure the box “Show Pictures†is ticked.

Clear the IE cache from IE> Tools> Internet Options> General> Delete files and Delete offline
content.

Pictures do not appear as expected, or you receive an error message when you open an HTML file on a

You receive a script error message when you view the HTML file in a Windows-based program. You

open the HTML file in Microsoft Internet Explorer, pictures do not appear the way that you expect.

Zone Alarm can also cause the problem:-

If you have it, this is caused by ZoneAlarm Pro, specifically "Ad Blocker". ZoneAlarm is
intercepting your pages and modifying them before you get them
That's also ZoneAlarm (Pro only). Many have noticed Zone Lab's little addition and not known had any
idea what it is, and unfortunately, they don't comment their changes.

To check your Privacy settings in ZoneAlarm:

Privacy | Main | Cookie Control [Custom] | Cookies | 3rd Party Cookies | Disable web bugs. You may
try turning this off and seeing what happens. The other tabs do things like disable animated gifs

You need to upload the images.

You need to make sure the URL to the images is pointing to them correctly
and that the images are in the folder the URL is pointing to.

It's not a Windows issue as such.
