Is there a way to view pictures copied from my computer to a CD on my TV
using a DVD player that also plays music CDs?

Some DVD players have an option to view
JPEG files. You simply insert the CD and the
machine recognizes and displays them. Have
a look at your DVD Player owner's manual.

Also your DVD player may support VCDs.
If you have software that will create a VCD,
I suggest giving that a try.

The 30 day trial version of Corel Photo
Album 6 has an option to create a VCD...
maybe it would be worth a try.

There is some irony in the fact that the cheapest DVD players
are most likely to have a built-in .jpg slide show capability.

If it costs more than $50, then it's hit or miss; but under
$50, it's made in China, and virtually all of their models
handle .jpg's directly.

Absolutely.
Most modern (less than 2-3 years old) DVD players are jpeg compatible.
That means they will play CDs that contain jpeg images. Look for that
feature in the machine's specs. Very versatile DVD players are now
incredibly chea, (less than $50 USD), and will play just about anything
you throw at them.

I just learned (by reading the manual) that our Sony does, in fact, read the
CD and set up a slide show. Works great. Our Philips, however, will only
play audio files from CDs. So it does depend on the make and model. I had
assumed that it would only be the more expensive models that would have that
capacity. It is ironic, indeed. Thanks for the note.
