View other users calendar/schedules while using pst files

I recently set users up to use local PST files as our 16 GB limit was being
reached.

They used to be able to 'plan a meeting' and view the other persons schedule
in the blocks. They no longer have the ability to view this.

I have them all still using the calendar thats serverside, BUT I see that
the new PST file, is now the default location, and that local pst calendar is
now default.

Is there a way to let them continue using the serverside calendar so that
other users schedules are visible upon creating meetings?

What can I do to resolve this?

Thanks in advance... Chris H.

Without moving them back to the Exchange server I would say it is not possible.
However noticing the 16Gb issue, if you are using Exchange 2003, the next
service pack will push that limit to 75Gb, so maybe that is a shining light
for you, if you are using 2003 at least.

Sorry couldn't give a more enlightning answer,
Jon

Thanks Jon,

Thats what I thought was going to happen.

We havent migrated to Exchange 2003 yet, but we have it. Im on 5.5 right now.

I think Im going try making the default mail delivery location the server
side mailbox again, and have archiving set up to run one a week or earlier,
as I plan on creating a 50MB quota on all users so we dont fill the 16GB
again.

Thanks for your input.

This is a good decision, but don't forget to remind your people that none of
the items that were moved from the Exchange mailbox to the PST when you
first switched delivery locations will be moved back automatically when you
go back to using the server as the delivery location. The Calendar
contents, at the least, will have to be moved back and it will need to be
done manually or (possibly - I don't know) with VBA code. You might also
want to advise people that they might want to create rules that move some of
their incoming messages to their PST so as to keep their server mailbox
usage low. In fact, this is exactly what happens where I work. We have 50
MB quitas as well. I, for example, keep all my non-mail items on the server
but have a rule move all the mail to a PST. It is the mail, for me, that
takes up space, not the other items.

And, as a footnote, please be advised that the Exchange 2003 SP-2 patch will
increase the available storage from 16 gigs to 75 gigs.
