How do I change the number of items displayed in a view (I need more than 10
at a time) and is there a way to reduce the footprint of the tool/menu
options that crowd the workspace in 2007 office apps?

And what view might that be?

Click on the drop-down arrow to the right of the QAT and choose "Minimize
Ribbon"....

Many ways.

Ctrl+F1
Double-click the active Ribbon tab
Right-click on the Ribbon and select Minimise

There's probably other ways too.

Gordon,
Oh, I got it Quick Access Toolbar! Thanks!

Don't forget you can add all your frequently used commands to the QAT - just
right-click the button in the Ribbon and choose "Add to QAT"....
